*COVID and Otterhead*
We are happy to be back and running at Otterhead despite the current Covid conditions. Following government guidelines we are social distancing from each other and from our students. While we are excited to see all of our students, we would ask that if any are showing any symptoms at all they remain at home in order to keep our staff and students safe.
Welcome to Otterhead Forest School.
'Our goal is providing a rich learning environment in which individuals are encouraged and inspired to grow in confidence, self-esteem and independence through mastery of achievable tasks in an outdoor setting'
We operate as a trading arm of TauntonDeane Partnership College, the pupil referral unit for the Taunton area. TDPC supports all local primary and secondary schools with a variety of services that focus on children's social, emotional and mental health needs. As well as working with young people on roll with TDPC, Otterhead is commissioned by a variety of other educational establishments in Somerset to offer Forest School provision to their students.
Otterhead Forest School is set within approximately 230 acres of mixed woodland on the Blackdown hills above the local town of Taunton, Somerset. The inspiring and stimulating environment offers students an opportunity to engage in learning in a hands on and personalised way.
Please feel free to browse our website and if you have any queries, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
Otterhead Forest School won 'Community project of the year' at the 2018 Believe in Somerset Awards. A very proud achievement and this award is dedicated to all the young people who make Otterhead Forest School such a special place. Thank you.
"The idea of outdoor, structured experiential learning as a vehicle to address the needs of the hard to engage pupils is easily transferable in the mainstream context and is one which would enhance the child's independence and problem solving skills"
Mr Robinson, 2017, Teacher at Wembdon St Georges School, attended Otterhead Forest School's Level 2 training course.
