At Otterhead we guide and support individuals and groups through small enterprise projects that provide an understanding of the value of money and hard work. Past projects have included gathering, chopping and selling logs and deconstructing a broken car, identifying mechanical parts and selling parts individually.
The money accumulated during the enterprise project is given back to the students in the form of a reward, such as a day trip or celebration meal. Enterprise projects include working with young people to set achievable, realistic targets and deadlines. The idea is to practice personal skills that will help with the transition to a working environment and develop a healthy attitude towards earning a living.
