“With Forest School’s positive approach they support our pupils by raising their self esteem and confidence which then is bought back into the classroom enabling them to become confident learners. The staff are non judgemental and works with their emotions and educational difficulties to help them all feel safe to take on new task in learning. Forest School is consistent and supportive to pupils and is fully aware of their emotional, social, behavioural and educational needs. Staff are always looking for a way forward to enable the young person to continue the work in a positive, safe and happy environment. “

We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn and develop in our supportive and engaging environment. Our flexibility as a teaching establishment means we can adapt and change our activities to suit the needs of the student.
We believe in treating people with respect and maturity, to fuse trusting relationships between staff and students. With this approach in mind we quickly establish behaviour management systems that empower students to take responsibility and control of their own behaviour.
We understand the stigma that is attached to schools by those who have had negative experiences with schools in the past. At Otterhead Forest School we do not possess a mainstream education mentality. We are fortunate enough to be able to offer a high staff to student ratio, which allows us to work with people on a deeper level that is not always possible in mainstream schools.
We endeavour to support those who may not have experienced success elsewhere. We believe that everyone has the potential to achieve success and set small achievable goals so people experience accomplishment and build a sustainable feeling of self-belief.
